This will include a new beach volleyball facility at Voco Point, new gym equipment at the stadium and other refurbishments at major sporting venues around Lae city.
The indoor complex of the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium is undergoing full refurbishment in preparation for the Games.
This includes new flooring, improved lighting, ventilation and increased seating capacity to cater for more than 1, 000 people.
For the outdoor stadium, the synthetic tracks will be replaced with new ones. Work has also been carried out on its drainage systems.
Other facilities like the swimming pool, netball and volleyball courts have also undergone major maintenance and that’s not all. New sporting facilities will be built.
